Is Web Nexus free?

Yes, Web Nexus is free and open source. However, you need your own API keys from AI providers, which may have costs.

Which browsers are supported?

Currently, Web Nexus supports:

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge (Chromium)
  • Other Chromium-based browsers

Is my data safe?

Yes. All data is stored locally on your device. API keys are encrypted, and we never send your data to our servers.

API Keys

Where do I get an API key?

You can get API keys from:

  • OpenAI: platform.openai.com
  • Anthropic: console.anthropic.com
  • Google: aistudio.google.com
  • OpenRouter: openrouter.ai

Are my API keys secure?

Yes. Keys are:

  • Stored locally with encryption
  • Never sent to our servers
  • Only used for direct API calls

Can I use multiple providers?

Yes! You can add keys for multiple providers and switch between them anytime.

Features

How do I clear my conversation?

Type /clear in the chat input or click the clear button in the settings menu.

Can I export my conversations?

Not yet, but this feature is planned for a future release.

How do I use the floating menu?

Simply select text on any webpage. The floating menu will appear automatically.

Troubleshooting

The extension isn't working

Try these steps:

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Check your API key is valid
  3. Ensure you have internet connection
  4. Reinstall the extension

API errors

If you see API errors:

  1. Verify your API key is correct
  2. Check your API quota/limits
  3. Try a different model
  4. Check the provider's status page

Slow responses

Response speed depends on:

  • Your chosen model (larger = slower)
  • Provider server load
  • Your internet connection
